Having a convergent trait arise on a homologous gene isn't surprising at all. From the title, I was thinking that the sequence of gene was going to be exactly the same between humans and canids.

This article seems a little misleading. Indeed, if you drink diet soda only to load up on other calories then no, it won't help. But if the only change you make to your diet is switching from sugar to diet, then it will help you lose weight, or at least slow the rate you put it on. This article is n …
